Lot Essay

Valentino Panciera, called Besarel, was born in Zoldo in 1829. He trained as a sculptor and worked extensively for the Prince of Wales. Exhibiting at the major International Exhibitions during the second half of the 19th century, he was awarded a gold medal at the 1878 Paris Universelle Exposition and was made Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. The churches of Este and Conselve, near Padua have works by him.
