The cover surmounted by a wine-drinking putto, the fluted and scalloped edge cast with a further three drunken putti and clusters of fruit, the campana-shaped vase with egg-and-dart-cast overhanging rim, above ribbon-tied vine branches, the body cast in high relief with a ring of dancing putti each holding hands, the acanthus-cast gadrooned lower bowl with a pair of handles, each mounted with a putto, one playing pipes, the other plucking a violin, on a spreading fluted foot cast with four doves, on a square base inscribed A. Nelli, Roma 1877/Composizione, ed esecuzione and fusione a cera perduta, on a black and rosso antico marble plinth
