Lot Essay

Everett Fahy, on the basis of photographs, believes this to be the work of the Master of the Borghese Tondo, named after The Madonna adoring the Christ Child with Saint Joseph and the Infant Saint John the Baptist in the Borghese Gallery, Rome. For other works by the Master, see E. Fahy, Some Followers of Domenico Ghirlandaio, 1976, pp. 167-8.
