A CONTINENTAL SILVER PEG TANKARD
Unmarked, probably Scandinavian, circa 1680
Cylindrical, on three bursting pomegranite feet, the sides repouss and chased with lush foliate scrolls and stylized tulips, the auricular handle with hinged and applied lion form thumbpiece to the slightly raised and partly chased cover, later engraved with date 1740--7in. (17.8cm.) high, 20oz.
