marked with the Cyrillic initials of Fedor Rckert, Moscow, 1896-1908
Circular, on three swisted ropework ball feet, with six lobed panels enamelled inside and out with varicolor alternating exotic birds and stylized blossoms on pale blue and cream grounds, below a moss-green border with filigree tracery, the centre enamelled with Stork and Fox from the fable by I. Krylov, marked on rim
4in. (10.2cm.) diam.

Ivan Andreevich Krylov (1769-1844) translated into Russian the Fables of La Fontaine, but giving them a distinctive Russian flavor.
