The engraved silvered dial inscribed John Scott, Edinr., with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, strike/silent dial to the arch, enclosed by a moulded arched glazed door flanked by fluted brass-mounted pillars and surmounted by a broken swan-neck pediment with dentilled border, ending in gilt flowerhead terminals and centred by a brass ball finial, fretwork panels below with later stained wooden backing, the frieze fitted with a shaped arched trunk door flanked by fluted demi-columns, on panelled box base flanked by fluted canted angles, and moulded plinth with bracket feet
