Lot Essay

One sheet has three studies of a man holding a walking stick next to his nose: this study relates to Tea in the Hospital Ward, (National Trust, Sandham Memorial Chapel), 1932, (Bell 130p) and the sitter for this figure was 'Jas' (James) Wood, an artist, who was a friend of Spencer's.
