2 volumes in 24, 4° (289 x 232mm). EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH OVER 1800 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS, ETCHINGS, ENGRAVINGS, WOODCUTS, SOFT-GROUND ETCHINGS, LITHOGRAPHS AND OTHER PRINTS mounted or otherwise inserted. Early 19th-century diced russia, panelled in blind (rebacked, some wear to sides).

A VASTLY ENLARGED COPY extra-illustrated with numerous examples of the work of artists, both those discussed in Strutt's text and those not. Pencilled captions either identify the artist and/or point out relative features, thereby making the set an invaluable teaching aid about artists, prints and the techniques of printmaking.
