Lot Essay

A study probably from the life, executed by Jordaens circa 1623, according to d'Hulst, and inspired by head studies by Rubens. The same model was used for one of the Apostles on the landing stage of the Saint Peter finding the Tribute Money at Copenhagen and for one of the Evangelists in The Four Evangelists in the Louvre.
