A porcelain Soup Plate and a Dessert Plate
by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, period of Nicholas I
Circular, the first decorted with four cartouches of garden flowers on white ground within gilt ciselé floral scroll and trellis borders on blue ground with gilt lace decoration, with shaped gilt rim; the second with two cartouches of garden flowers and butterflies within gilt scroll border, and with a gilt roundel in the centre, each on white ground, against a blue ground with gilt floral sprays, the ribbed border and shaped rim with gilt embelishment on white ground, marked under bases
9¾in. (25cm.) and 8½in. (21.6cm.) diam. (2)

Lot Essay

These plates are similar to the Banquetting Service made at Sevres for presentation in 1768 by Louis XV to Christian VII of Denmark.
