The rebounding sidelocks with high-spurred dolphin hammers, the toplever pivoted to the right of centre, percussion fences, the lockplates and triggerguard finely engraved with gun-dogs and vignettes of game-birds, the whole surrounded by best foliate-scrollwork, with traces of hardening-colour, figured stock with butt-plate, the fine damascus barrels with game-rib
Weight 6lb. 13oz., 14in. pull, 29in. barrels, approx. cyl. & choke, 2in. chambers, nitro reproof

Lot Essay

The engraving on this gun is typical of the finely-executed but rather naive game engraving of the period. The action is different to the normal Thomas patent in having a toplever which retracts a locking piece in a straight line rather than operating a turning turret
