An early 20th-Century vernier sextant signed J. Coombes, Devonport
constructed in brass with a three circle frame, the inlaid silvered scale divided 5°- 0°- 160°, the arc numbered 7210, vernier clamp and tangent screw fine adjustment, the vernier engraved Fr.C.Peet, R.N. swivel magnifier, seven shades, two mirrors, two telescope (both numbered 7210), wooden handle with ivory note plaque inset, in fitted box with makers test certificate for 1906 in lid, the radius -- 7in. (18cm.); the box -- 10½ x 10in. (27 x 25.5cm.)
