Two autograph letters signed ("W. E. Gladstone"), to Viscount Canning, 1½ pages, 4°, Downing Street, 2nd February 1853, and 2½ pages, 8°, Feb. 26th, 1853.
The first concerning an application of Postmasters of Fettercain for a retiring allowance, the second relating to Colonial Postage Reform, "the most important part of the subject is that which relates to the Australian Colonies, and this you cannot act without communication with the Colonies" (fold mark).
