A globular pear shaped ewer and cover
with entwined dragon handle and spout, painted and gilt with a panel depicting Kannon and numerous rakan in a boat with a ho-o bird prow, further rakan in a dragon headed boat behind, all approaching pavilions in a mountainous river landscape, the reverse with a multitude of Buddhistic figures, one on the back of an elephant, another on a karashishi, all on a ground of confronting dragons and geometric and floral motifs -- 10½in. (26.2cm.) high, signed, (dragon's ears broken, chips to extremities).
