A baluster vase
with short everted neck, painted and gilt with three shaped panels, one depicting a bear climbing the steps of a pavilion, a young girl standing at the top of the stairs flanked by various officials and attendants, a further panel with two workers carrying baskets of sticks before a waterfall in a mountainous landscape, and the third with numerous quail on the banks of a flower strewn riverbank, all on a dense chrysanthemum flowerhead ground and below a band of precious objects to the shoulder -- 6in. (15.3cm.) high, (minor rubbing).
