A 3¼-inch (8.3cm.) diameter miniature terrestrial globe made up of twelve coloured printed gores and two polar calottes, the overlaid cartouche in the southern Indian Ocean showing an open book supported by three cherubs, the equatorial and Méridien de Paris graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days, a dotted line in the Pacific Ocean showing the Division Océanique, the Antarctic with partial coastline, the continents delicately outlined in yellow, green and orange and showing rivers, towns and national boundaries, Australia with states shown, Russia labelled SIBERIE OU RUSSIE D'ASIE (some paper loss and discolouration), with brass finial on baluster turned ebonized fruitwood column and plinth base -- 7in. (17.8cm.) high
