Lot Essay

The labelling of Ethiopia indicates a date of manufacture no earlier than 1941, when the Italian presence in East Africa was removed. Pakistan is not shown, indicating a date no later than 1947. Unfortunately it is difficult to discern whether it is pre- or post-war as the cartography of Europe is particularly crowded.
