A French gilt-bronze striking mantel clock, last quarter 19th century
The hexagonal case with glazed panels to each side, with reeded pilasters to the angles topped by budding finials, conforming finial to the moulded pediment, the frieze panels applied with openwork mounts of swag-hung balustrades, on gadrooned toupie feet, the off-white enamel Arabic dial (chip by XI) decorated with floral swags, the twin barrel movement with strike on gong, stamped on the backplate for Richard, the strike train and gong presently detached, with gilt-metal pendulum, the bob centred by a pierced mount
