London silver hallmarks for 1755
With earlier rapier blade of flattened hexagonal section with central fuller on each face of the forte stamped 'Sahagom', hilt with boatshell guard, short straight quillons with scallop-shaped tips, hallmarked knuckle-guard, and ovoidal pommel, partly decorated with gadrooning throughout, and grip bound with silver ribbon and wire, in vellum scabbard with white metal mounts, the guard and knuckle-guard each with maker's mark GF
