A 22-Bore German Combined Sporting Gun and Rifle (Bockbchse)

With octagonal sighted barrels signed in silver gothic script, the right barrel cut with eight grooves, patent breeches engraved at the centre and each with two silver lines, engraved tang retained by two screws, border engraved locks signed in silver and each fitted with safety-catch, figured walnut half-stock carved with foliage in low relief (small chip missing at the front of one lock), chequered grip and fore-end each heightened with silver nails, carved sliding patch-box cover with white staghorn release button, carved wooden trigger-guard (mainly later), the remaining mounts of engraved white metal, iron sling swivels, and later ramrod, the butt with applied silver plaques pierced and engraved with scenes of the chase and to the rear of the cheek-piece with a coat-of-arms
