Lot Essay

In Where Eagles Dare, the cable car to the impregnable Schloss Adler, 'Castle of the Eagles', plays a key role. Not only is it used by the allied forces paratroopers to gain access to the castle so that they can achieve their mission (to rescue a high-ranking Officer held prisoner there), it also provides the dramatic location for a fight sequence in one of the film's most powerful scenes.
