A 19th-Century lacquered, silvered and oxidised-brass demonstration dip circle apparatus,
signed Max Kohl in Chemnitz, the compass needle located with axis in a square-section oval brass cage incorporating a circle divided in four quadrants, arranged to swivel over the vertical circle with scew-gear adjustment, with engraved scale and quick release lever, the axis supported by two side frames over the engraved horizontal circle with a similar adjustment, raised on a pillar support and tripod stand with three adjustable screw feet -- 14.1/8in. (36cm.) high
