An early 19th-Century brass double telescope graphometer,
signed Charot en la Cite a Paris on the protractor arc, with finely engraved scales, the silvered compass inset in the frame, the plain needle with agate cap and clamp, fitted on one side with a spring-tensioned bubble level, the alidade mounted with a telescope and twin vernier scales with tangent screw adjustment and clamp, the lower limb with bubble level and telescope, fitted with quick release and worm-drive fine adjustment over the staff mounting with ball-and-socket joint and butterfly-screw adjusting nut, on mahogany stand -- 12½in. (32cm.) high
