A 19th-Century mahogany domestic medicine chest,
the lid rising to reveal compartments for eight bottles with metal covers, each engraved in Latin with their contents, another compartment containing a canister with screw top (top missing), and a green painted metal trough, the underside of the lid pasted with the fragment of the original contents label, the front door opening to reveal a shelf for six bottles (four present), with original trade labels and metal tops, above a compartment fitted with four long and three short drawers, the rear poison compartment containing seven (of eight) original bottles with metal tops engraved with the name of contents, and original trade labels by Merletti of Turin, the cabinet on shaped plinth base, fitted with two swan-neck brass carrying handles -- 12¾in. (32.4cm.) high
