Lot Essay

It is extremely rare to find trays of this shape glazed in this combination of colors and no similar example appears to have been recorded. For a circular footed dish, utilizing the same colors and with a stylized petal design at the center, see Sekai toji zenshu, Shogakukan, 1976, vol. 11, p. 77, figs. 56 and 57, and p. 140, fig. 123, for a nine-petal lotus dish.
