Lot Essay

Harriet Cany Peale was the second wife of Rembrandt Peale. She exhibited landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, as well as copies after her husband's works, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Braddock's Field, located in western Pennsylvania, is named for General Braddock who died there during the French and Indian War.
