The Anti-Gallican Society was formed in London in 1745 "To promote British Manufactures...and discourage the introduction of French modes" (see D.S. Howard, op. cit., p. 487). Hervouet and Bruneau, op. cit., p. 331, illustrate an Anti-Gallican Society punch bowl from the collection of the Museum of the United Grand Lodge of England in London.
