A GEORGE III GILT-BRASS MOUNTED MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK
Signed Gravell & Tolkien/Londen and numbered 2474, circa 1800
The circular silvered dial signed 'Gravell & Tolkien/London/2474' with a date aperture and a strike/silent dial within foliate spandrels , the backplate engraved with a flower-filled basket and numbered '2474', the rectangular case with a caddy lid and brass carrying handle with pinecone-cast finials, the front with pierced spandrels, flanked by canted corners applied with floral trails, the sides with glazed arched panels, on shaped bracket feet, striking on the bell, and the two-train movement striking the half hour on a bell with crown escapement, the underside of case with remnants of a wax seal of Russian customs
