A gilt bronze figure of Vajradhara
Tibet, 16th Century
Finely cast seated in dhyanasana on a beaded double-lotus base, his hands crossed in vajrahumkara and holding the vajra, ghanta and two lotus flowers rising up to both shoulders, wearing a long flowing dhoti secured with a waistband suspending beaded festoons, necklace and foliate armlets richly inset with turquoise, his face with a benign expression with delicately lidded downcast eyes, flanked by foliate earrings in the pierced lobes and surmounted by a five-leaf tiara, richly gilt overall and sealed at the base
