The Madonna and Child before a Curtain

It has been suggested that the present lot, which is on oak panel, may be by a northern hand painting in Rome and can be compared to the Virgin with a Lizard attributed to Peter de Kempeneer, in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence (in the catalogue of the exhibition, Fiamminghi a Roma, 1508-1608, 1995, p. 244, no. 129, illustrated).
