The case German, third quarter 18th Century, the movement by William Smith, London
Crossbanded overall, the bombé-shaped plinth inlaid with a cross, below the baluster-shaped trunk door with glazed lenticle, the arched hood with glazed sides, the brass Roman dial with matted centre signed on a plaque Will'm Smith/London, with pierced black painted steel hands, subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, surrounded by pierced gilt metal foliate spandrels, surmounted by a strike/silent ring to the arch, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and strike on one bell, minor damages and restorations
