A SILK AND METALLIC THREAD CARPET

The rectangular field woven in silk and gold metallic thread with cranes in flight between two pavilions supported on surrounding peony-filled vapor issuing from rocks flanked by dragons rising from stylized waves above a lishui stripe border, with side borders formed by bands of dots, foliate scroll, key pattern and be-ribboned babao, all in muted tones of aubergine, cream, blue, green, gold, rose and rust, woven at one end with a five-character inscription, Da He Dian Bei Yong, which may be translated, 'For use in the Great Hall of Harmony'
