Each with a circular dished top on a gadrooned and ring-turned baluster column above a lower dished tier, on square tapering hipped downswept legs, brass caps and castors, the caps stamped 'COPES PATENT'

Lot Essay

A related low dumb-waiter, with two tops and voluted truss 'claw' terminating in foliated feet (sold anonymously, Christie's South Kensington, 29 November 1995, lot 172) corresponded to one executed by Gillows of London and Lancaster which was supplied in 1830 to Mr. Bastard (Gillows' Estimate Sketch Book, no. 3962).
