Comprising two rounded rectangular end-sections with extending action to accomodate five additional leaves and a pair of additional supporting legs, the rounded rectangular top above a plain frieze, on ring-turned baluster and heavily-reeded legs, brass beaded caps and castors, with brass label to the mechanism embossed 'MOORE BROS Patentees & Sole Manufacturers of the Double & Treble Action Table Expanders Cabinet Brass & Iron Fittings Birmingham & London' stamped '3364', with remains of depository label to the underside
29 in. (73.5 cm.) high; 175 in. (444.5 cm.) long, fully extended; 60 in. (152.5 cm.) deep
One leaf: 19 in. (49.5 cm.) wide
Two leaves: 20 in. (51 cm.) wide
One leaf: 21 in. (53 cm.) wide

Lot Essay

The plaque is probably that of the firm of Messrs. B.R. & J. Moore recorded in Clerkenwell, London in the 1850s and James Moore, brass founder of Darwin Street, Birmingham recorded in Slater's 1852 Birmingham Directory.
