Lot Essay

Bouraine was a French sculptor who worked in bronze and ivory, depicting figures ranging from dancers, amazons to animals. He produced figures for several French foundries, including Susse Freres, Le Verrier, Goldschieder and Etling. In 1928 he was commissioned by Gabriel Argy-Rousseau to design a series of figures in glass.
