On short foot, the white interior with a central interlace roundel forming a stellar pattern, the sides with an inverted very elegant kufic inscription verging on Eastern kufic, the interstices with occasional red dotted panels, a band of serrations around the rim, the exterior plain white, repaired, one small area of restoration

Lot Essay
The inscription, which is virtually complete, translates as "knowledge is an ornament for youth; intellect is a crown [made] of gold". This is a very appropriate sentiment for a bowl in this collection!
