FIRST EDITION. Travelling with Dr. Jukes on his mission to Persia, Baillie Fraser reached Teheran on 29 November, 1821, and a month afterwards, 27 December, he set out in Persian costume with the intention of travelling through Korasan to Bokhara. On 2 February 1822, he reached Meshed, but learning about disturbances on the road to Bokhara, he turned westward by Kurdistan and the Caspian Sea, and ended his travels at Tabriz. This expedition furnished him with the material both for the above work, and another travel book published in 1826 (see next lot).
