AN EXTREMELY FINE KASHMIR RUG
NORTH INDIA, CIRCA 1900
Of seventeenth century "Portugese" design, comprising radiating irregularly outlined powder-blue, dusty pink, indigo, grass-green, lemon-yellow and shaded rust-red lozenges filled with dense flowering vine, occasional perching birds and palmette cartouches, in a blood-red border of scrolling arabesques filled and surrounded by flowering vine between ice-blue meandering floral and minor indigo and apple-green baton and lozenge stripes, a few splits at one end
