A William IV cruet frame
of shaped oblong form with husk and scroll corners, foliate scroll and ring handle and ornate scroll feet, by John Evans (II); fitted with seven later cut-glass bottles, (three with mounts), by T.Smiley, 1877, one bottle matching, one stopper repaired - 29cm wide, 25oz weighable silver.
Provenance
Previously sold as lot 1105, Nureyev Part II, Christie's London, Tuesday 21 November 1995, where it was described as Victorian. It was removed from the dancer's favourite apartment on the Quai Voltaire in Paris where it was regularly used in the enterance hall/dining room.
