Lot Essay

Christina J.A Wansink of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische
Documentatie, The Hague, considers that, despite the presence of the letter 'D', the present picture seems closer in style to the work of Abraham Willaerts, than to that of his father Adam Willaerts (1588-1664). She compares this picture to a work by Abraham Willaerts, dated 1653, in a private collection, Munich.
