Eight sixth-plate daguerreotypes, plain gilt-metal mounts, folding morocco cases, four stamped in gilt Claudet's Daguerreotype Process Adelaide Gallery Strand, two stamped Claudet's Daguerreotype Royal Adelaide Gallery and one each stamped Mr. Claudet Daguerreotype 101, Regent St. Quadrant and Claudet's Daguerreotype 18 King William St. Strand & Colosseum, 107 Regent St. Quadrant. Lot Essay

Four portraits of women, one in Quaker dress, and four of men. Claudet opened his first studio at the Adelaide Gallery in 1841 and in 1844 extended the premises to include the address at 18 King William Street. His Colosseum studio opened in 1847 and his 'temple to photography' opened in Regent Street in 1851.
