THE STORY OF SCREAMING EAGLE
This microscopic winery located near the Oakville Crossroads, below the hillside vineyards of Dalla Valle and Vine Hill, is a remarkable story. The creation of a single-minded proprietor, Jean Phillips, Screaming Eagle became California's leading cult wine when the first vintage, the nearly perfect 1992, was released. Production is distressingly small - 135 cases of the 1993, 175 cases of the 1994, and 225 cases of the 1995. However, with the vineyard coming into full production, there will be 500 cases of the 1996 and possibly 550 cases of the 1997. The wines are made by the well-known Napa Valley oenologist, Heidi Barrett (a Wine Advocate heroine of the year in 1995). Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Issue 114, 12/19/97
