A Dutch silver brandy bowl
Maker's mark of Jarich Gerrits van der Lely, Leeuwarden, 1646, the base inscribed with later date 1686 and initials I.S.H.T.A.F.V.H.I.B.
Of octagonal oval form, with high domed base chased with cherubs and floral motifs, the neck with reeded and ovoid bands rising to a wide body engraved with six oval and floral medallions, one with allied crests of which one is Frisian (eagle), the other five with scenes symbolising the five senses, with two flat foliate and scroll handles
