A Chelsea Kakiemon octagonal bowl
Circa 1752
Painted with The Lady in a Pavilion pattern of a stylised robed courtly lady in a garden by a pavilion verandah beneath cloud-scrolls, flanked by a swooping bird and flowers, the reverse with tasselled drapery, the everted rim decorated in iron-red and pale-blue with a hatched zig-zag pattern (extended hairline crack around interior, rim chip and slight staining)
4 in. (10 cm.) diam.
