A Worcester blue-scale teacup, coffee-cup and saucer of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu type
Circa 1770, blue crescent marks
Painted in the atelier of James Giles with exotic birds among shrubs and with flower-sprays and insects within gilt vase and mirror-shaped cartouches, flanked by elaborate gilt foliage, gilt-line and dentil rims, the entwined handles with gilt dot ornament (some minute rubbing to gilt rim of teacup near handle and to well of saucer) (3)
