An engraved rummer in the Jacobite taste and a commemorative medal
The glass 19th century, the medal dated 1745
The rummer with a bell bowl engraved with a portrait of Prince Charles in profile to the right and inscribed CAROLUS WALLIAE PRINCEPS 1745 within a circular line cartouche, the reverse with a standing figure of Britannia, her shield partially concealing a globe with a map of England, gazing towards a sailing ship and inscribed AMOR ET.SPES BRITANNIA within a similar cartouche, on a rudimentary stem and circular foot, 5 in. (13.5 cm.) high; and a Continental medal from which the decoration was taken, possibly by Roettiers and made to commemorate the expected arrival of Prince Charles in 1745, probably for clandestine distribution to his supporters in Scotland and England, 1 in. (4 cm.) diam. (2)
