A remarkably similar pair of George II giltwood, serpentine-fronted eaglet console tables, with a provenance from Arthur S. Vernay Inc., New York, were sold from the Walter P. Chrysler Jr. Collection of English Furniture, part 1, Parke Bernet Galleries Inc., New York, 29-30 April 1960, lot 233. They were also illustrated in F. L. Hinckley, A Directory of Antique Furniture, New York, 1953, p. 179, fig. 560.
