A PAIR OF EMBROIDERED 'BIRD AND FLOWER' SILK PANELS
late 18th/early 19th century
Each finely embroidered in satin stitch on silk satin, one with a pair of sparrows perched on a flowering prunus branch symbolising the spring season, a dragonfly hovering close by, the other with a pair of finches resting on a fruiting pomegranate branch with another in flight symbolising the autumn season, all in elegant golden and silvery tones on a pale cream ground
