Each of sloping form with everted rim on short foot, the white interior painted in cobalt blue, grey and bole red with the emblem of a prancing goat within a beaded roundel, the rim with simple floral motifs on a blue ground, repaired clean breaks

Lot Essay

These dishes are highly unusual, having a goat which is heraldic in appearance. They were possibly produced as a commission for some European family, as some Iznik ceramics had been in the 16th century.
