A LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD SEALING-WAX CASE
by Jean-Joseph Barrire (fl. 1763-1793), marked, Paris 1778/1779, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1775-1781
Slightly tapering tui--cire of flattened oval section, both sides of cover and base painted with mauve trees imitating herborized agate on oyster-pink opalescent enamel panels, within borders of opaque white enamel beads and divided by sabl gold bands stamped with foliage and berries enamelled in translucent green and red, blank matrix, the cover topped by a blank gold ovolo surrounded by opaque white enamel beads
